BBC World Service English: Cost-effective and convenient listening

BBC World Service English needed to find a way to reach listeners abroad, even if they were in locations where internet access was expensive or severely limited.

Zeno Media assisted them in developing a lightweight-to-the-touch, swift mobile app that used ats little data as possible, and offered listeners the choice of streaming or downloading content, or using the “call to listen” feature so they could tune in for only the cost of a local call.

Said Mary Hockaday, Controller of BBC World Service English about their success: “Young people around the world are increasingly using their mobile phones to access news, and this simple app offers a cost-effective and convenient way for people to listen to our programmes.”
